[local news] We, The Undersigned Embark on Cross-Canada Tour

11/08/2009

wtu tour

As one of the leading bands in Fredericton’s ever growing metal scene, We, The Undersigned have made a name for themselves not only as talented musicians but as a prime example of hard work and dedication really paying off. Though in part due to the invaluable support of other bands, local labels and organizations such as Diminished Fifth Records as well as the emergence of The Capital’s Metal Monday’s, We, The Undersigned and their equally talented colleagues have brought rise to a much more solidified metal community in Fredericton than there was before – despite the city’s indie majority.

Evidence of this community was painfully obvious on the night of Monday, October 12th. Supported by an all-star lineup of Canada’s best head bangers including Ninjaspy, What’s He Building In There? and Endast, We, The Undersigned celebrated the release of their debut album Bleed The Constants to an enthusiastic and supportive crowd.

Today, nearly a month later, We, The Undersigned are currently blasting through a series of Canadian cities on their second cross-Canada tour and will return to the Maritimes on November 26th to appear alongside Protest the Hero and the other reigning kings of the Atlantic Canadian metal scene: Iron Giant, Children of Eve and Black Moor.

[news] Midlake Reveal New Album Details

10/28/2009

midlake

Three years ago Midlake released their sophomore album The Trials of Van Occupanther, one of the most underrated albums of the decade. In a press release yesterday, the band’s label Bella Union squashed the mystery surrounding Midlake’s third album, The Courage of Others. According to the press release, the new album (out February 1st, 2010) has a “definitely British, trad-tainted folk sound” and is “a slower, darker and more carved record [than Van Occupanther], both eerier and dreamier”.

The Courage of Others:

Acts of Man
Winter Dies
Small Mountain
Core of Nature
Fortune
Rulers, Ruling All Things
Children of the Grounds
Bring Down
The Horn
The Courage of Others
In The Ground

[video] 72 Musicians Trailer

10/24/2009

72 musicians

72 Musicians, directed by Bob Moczydlowsky, is, astonishingly, a film about musicians. Some might be from Kansas City, some might not be. The film screened at several film festivals this year and will be available for download sometime in the future. Until then, the soundtrack for the album (featuring The Life & Times, The Appleseed Cast and many more) is available at the cost of one email address here.

The trailer for the film can be viewed here.
